Alla Akissi Christiana

Christiana became an orphan a year ago, she and her brother are currently under care of her aunt, who is unfortunately unable to provide the girl with all the supplies she needs for education. Christiana has to walk 10 kilometers a day to attend school, without proper nutrition, these journeys take a heavy toll on her health. Another challenge comes from the fact that Christiana’s aunt cannot afford books that the girl needs for school, nor a proper desk for doing homework.
Despite many difficulties Christiana does not give up on her dreams of becoming a doctor, she is a very gifted student, and the scholarship aims to make sure that her talent does not go to waste.
Timeline
JULY 2025
School Attendance Challenges and Medical Follow-Up
On July 17th and 18th, we visited all the heart scholars, including Alla Akissi Christiana, who was orphaned a year ago. Her aunt is caring for the girl, as her father abandoned her after the mothers death. We must admit that the visit from Christiana and her brother, Dieudonne, was incredibly moving.
Christiana walks to school - a total of 10 km, five times a week. Although she doesn't complain about this, it's easy to conclude that she doesn't have enough food for such long journeys. Christiana is exceptionally talented. She is currently in fifth grade. She loves learning math at school and is the first in her family to pursue medicine.
The girl doesn't have much herself. However, she believes that by becoming a doctor, she will be able to help her family and prevent illnesses, such as those that afflicted her mother. Despite her passion for education, Christiana must first provide for her family and walks daily to fetch water and help on the farm.
Christiana's talent for learning may not be enough to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor. She only has a small table and chair where she tries to do her homework and prepare for classes. Although school is free, Christiana needs books from which she can effectively learn. We thought that with Professor Asse's help, we could provide her with books for medical studies. Furthermore, she needs school supplies, such as pens and notebooks.
We hope that Christiana's scholarship can be extended so she can finally fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor.
